The Pandas had a very close to perfect weekend. They were facing the Saskatchewan Huskies who, prior to Friday night, were tied with the Pandas for second place in Canada-West. The Pandas won the first game in a thrilling 3-1 victory. It was 2-1 until Lindsey Cunningham scored an empty netter with exactly 1 second left. The fun would not last though. The next night the Pandas were swarmed by the Huskies and lost in overtime 3-2. Skoye is currently the Pandas’ top contributor with 6 points (3 goals and 3 assists) in the first 6 games, she’s tied for third in the league. Post is currently saving 92% of the shots fired at the net and Michala Jeffries is saving 95%, and allowing an average of only one goal per game. She already has an assist after playing only three games.
The Bears were once again unstoppable over the weekend, keeping their streak alive at six wins and zero losses. They beat the Huskies 3-2 and 4-2 allowing them to hold onto first place. Calgary also remains undefeated and sits behind the Bears based on a weaker Goals for/Goals Against ratio. The Bear’s scoring is lead by Levko Koper who has 10 points (3 goals and 7 assists) in his first 6 games, he currently sits in third place in the league for scoring. Mucha is currently saving 94% of the shots he faces, and rookie Luke Siemens is currently ranked the best goalie in the league with a save percentage of almost 96%, allowing only one goal per game.
