With the season already in full swing for both the Bears and Pandas, I will be on air tomorrow with the first 2013-14 edition of Cam Meets the Bears and Pandas. I’m going to start off by speaking to some of the rookies about their initial experience with the team.
The Bears have had an insane start to their season pilling up the wins! They’ve won every single one of their games by at least four goals. In addition to that, only six Bears on the active roster haven’t scored a goal, meaning 14 out of 20 skaters have scored! In just the first four games of the season! Goaltending is once again looking like a strong suit for the Bears this season. Kurtis Mucha is saving over 94% of the shots he faces and only allowing one goal a game. Luke Siemens has played the other two games and has exceptional numbers so far, saving 97% and has allowed a total of only one goal. The Calgary Dinos have also had an amazing start and are looking like the Bears top competitors so far this season.
The Pandas have also experienced a fair amount of success early on this season, not to the same extent as the Bears, but a very respectable first two weeks. The Pandas have one loss which came at the hands of the Manitoba Bisons. After beating the Bisons 5-1 the night before, the Pandas fell 1-0 off a second period goal from Anderson. Last week-end the Pandas were back to their winning ways beating the MRU Cougars 4-1 in Calgary and 1-0 at Clare Drake. Kampjes, Houston, Skoye, and Stewart have all been the biggest offensive contributors with four points each. Michala Jeffries has been excellent overall in her first two games saving almost 96% and only allowing one goal per game. Lindsey Post is saving 96.6% and allowing an average of one goal every two games.
