The Bears were at home against the UBC Thunderbirds this past weekend. The Thunderbirds came into the weekend sitting in second last place whereas the Bears were up in first. Therefore, it was not a huge shock when the Bears emerged the victor in both games. Winning 5-3 on Friday and 6-2 on Saturday. The Dinos also won both their games, so the race for first place is still very tight with both teams tied at 16 points. The Bears top scorer is still Koper, holding a one point lead over Ferguson and last week’s interview, TJ Foster. Mucha is sitting in third place for goaltending in Canada West with a 1.75 Goals Against Average and a solid save percentage of 92.2%. And the Bears rookie goaltender, Siemens, is in first place among Canada West Goaltenders with a 1.25 goals against average, plus he’s saving 94.7% of the shots he faces.
The Pandas didn’t have quite as joyful a weekend. Going into the matchup the Pandas were in second and the Thuderbirds in fifth. After a loss on Friday 2-1 the Pandas earned a point on Saturday with another 2-1 loss, this time in the shoot out. Now the Pandas sit one spot below the Thunderbirds in fourth place. Skoye continues to lead the Pandas with a consistent 8 points in 8 games. Casorso and Rafter, from the Thunderbirds, lead the league in scoring with 10 points each. Lindsey Post is currently saving 92.8% and allowing an average of 1.17 goals per gam. Michla Jeffries is just below Post in the rankings saving 94.3% and allowing an average of 1.26 goals per game.
